SOHO. Also a restaurant, this hip place attracts an attractive, upscale clientele. The outside patio is a terrific place to mingle, especially in the evening when the work day is far behind and the night has just begun. The establishment has a Broadway theme, and it often features live jazz or blues performers. Patrons not socializing on the patio enjoy the mellow strains as they sample a local cigar or nurse a well-mixed cocktail. A terrific alternative to the city's boisterous clubs.

SOHO. Eclectic and sophisticated ­ these describe the scene at this South Howard address. Fashionable professionals, attracted by the surroundings and creative martinis, gather in the posh lounge after work. 717 South's dining room, meanwhile, features Art Deco paintings, stained wood trim, high ceilings and an open kitchen. Expect imaginative takes on Italian classics ­ for example, manicotti stuffed with lump crab, scallops and shrimp, veal scalloppine, or penne with jumbo sea scallops and pesto. In keeping with the place's cosmopolitan feel, the menu also lists a handful of Asian-inspired dishes, sesame chicken and Szechwan duck breast among them.

SOHO. A unique addition to the already-eclectic Tampa night scene, Bahasa was inspired by the ultra-chic clubs found in the Far East's more exclusive getaway spots ­ places like that suave Indonesian playground named Bali. Indeed, step inside Bahasa, and you'll immediately feel like a jetsetter with cash to burn ­ maybe you'll spend it on a touch of flavored tobacco and a hookah, maybe you'll treat a sexy somebody to a drink or two. Silk and wood accents, inside and outside bar areas, and an outstanding lineup of DJs who spin everything from old school hip-hop to trance perpetually keep the mood exotic and fresh.

AIRPORT AREA. This smart, sophisticated lounge tends to draw a well-heeled clientele from night to night, people who aren't shy about dressing up or coming off the hip for an expertly mixed martini. The decor certainly does its part to enhance the lounge's ultra-cool image ­ the space is awash in dramatic hues of blue and red, there are intimate bistro tables, and the bar is characterized by an artsy geometric shape that seems to hover over it. Complementing the extensive drink lineup is their tapas menu, which features everything from Jack Daniels-marinated shrimp to flatbread pizza.

YBOR CITY. Is this lounge cigar friendly? You bet your sweet Corona it is! In addition to premium stoogies, there's also live music, food and drink.
